In-depth Study Programmes

Within Kadampa Buddhism, there are three study and meditation programmes created by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche: General Programme (GP) which provides a wide range of classes, retreats and festivals; and two in-depth programmes – Foundation Programme (FP), and Teacher Training Programme (TTP). On this page you’ll find information about both of these programmes.

Foundation Programme (FP)

The purpose of the Foundation Programme (FP) is to provide a systematic presentation of particular subjects of Mahayana Buddhism to enable practitioners to deepen their knowledge and experience of Buddhism. Five topics are studied in depth with: Joyful Path of Good Fortune, The New Eight Steps to Happiness, How to Understand the Mind, Universal Compassion, The New Heart of Wisdom and Meaningful to Behold. Teacher Training Programme (TTP)

The purpose of the Teacher Training Programme (TTP) is to provide an extensive presentation of particular subjects of Mahayana Buddhism to enable practitioners to deepen their knowledge and experience of Buddhism, and to train as qualified Teachers of Modern Buddhism.

The study programme combines in depth study, teaching skills, retreats and the opportunity to teach locally. In addition to the six books studied on FP, the following are also studied: Ocean of Nectar, Clear Light of Bliss, The Bodhisattva Vow, Great Treasury of Merit, Mahamudra Tantra, The New Guide to Dakini Land, Tantric Grounds and Paths and Essence of Vajrayana.
